Kathryn "Katie" McKnight Moore

Spent my freshman year of high school at Ramey High on Ramey AFB in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Moved to Rancho Bernardo, in North San Diego Co, summer of 1967. Completed my last 3 years of high school at Poway High and graduated in 1970.
Attended Palomar, UC Riverside and graduated from USIU (now Alliant) in 1975. Enlisted in Army in 1976.
Commissioned 1978, graduated rotary wing flight school winter 1981 and fixed wing transition summer 1981. Served 20 yrs as an Intelligence Officer and Aviator and retired in
1996. Settled in Atlanta, GA area and started second career as an Aircraft Dispatcher in 1998 with Atlantic Southeast Airlines. I plan to retire this year and move to Hudson, FL to be near family and friends.

I grew up as an Air Force Brat moving about every
2 to 3 years all over the US and overseas. We moved to Rancho Bernardo in the summer of 1967
when my Dad left for a years tour commanding a squadron in Viet Nam. He returned safely, but that was the 3rd war he'd fought and after 26 years he retired. Raised as I had been I was very conservative and knew little or nothing about sex and drugs. Moving to Southern California during the middle of the peace/free love/flower power movement was very difficult, particularly with my father in harms way in a very unpopular war. I felt very much the outsider, the odd ball. But I adapted and by my senior year I was comfortable enough to run for and be elected to serve as ASB Treasurer and help out a bit on the yearbook. I repeatedly tried out for cheerleader and repeatedly failed to make the cut. Oh well. I made a few good friends but never attended a single Prom. No one asked. Probably just as well. They would have had to undergo my Dad's 3rd degree
interrogation. Not pleasant. LOL.
