I was not one of the right student to have a module schedule. My first 2 years at Poway high were great. I played freshmen football but was ineligible after that for sports as I had a hard time making it to class. I think I had 55 credits at the end of my sophmore year. and had missed probably 150 to 200 days or partial days of school. As I was more interested in going to school to find a ride to the beach. I could always find someone to ditch with me. U know who you were , Sid, Rick, Dave, Doug, Steve, Reggie, Suzy, Ronnie, Tony, Randy, Cindy and the list goes on. So Jr year I had to go to continuation, thats when it was behind the office at PHS. So I buckled down and got better grades as I only had to go from 8 to 11 am. Then it was beach time. The nice thing about growing up in Poway was the great people that I grew up with. Most of you I got to go to elementary, junior high and high school with. It was great. The parties, halloween egg fights at Foster Freeze and H&B, football games and dances. Poway was a great place to grow up. I lived there from 1957 to 1971 when I went into the Army. One beach trip 2 or 3 carloads of us when out Black Mountain Road to 11th Street Del Mar for a day of surfing. Randy Elliott was driving his old 58 Ford. Big ol thing. Loaded down with people. We were following behind him on the way back to Poway. On one of the curves all of a sudden the car goes up the bank then back down to the road. The rear axle slides out of the rear end. Making the car undriveable. NOT we jack up the car, slide the axle back in. and slowly drive back home. Just one of the great days growing up in Poway. Thanks for the memories, At least the ones I can remember. Tabe
